| Seaweed empty capsules are made use of seaweed polysaccharides which made from sea plant. No animal sources, no residual harmful substances in animal body or potential risks of pollutants. The specific advantages of seaweed empty capsules are as follows: ⑴ Low moisture-content, generally between 5%-8%. Suitable for high hygroscopic and water-sensitive medicines or functional food. For example, herbal extracts generally have strong moisture absorption, they tend to absorb the gelatin capsules' moisture, resulting in contents agglomerate, medicine instability, shell brittleness, unqualified disintegration time and dissolubility. Take cellulose as material, vegetable capsules have lower moisture contents than gelatin capsules. The appearance and dissolution rate of vegetable capsules are not sensitive to the moisture content of capsule shells and changes of environmental humidity. It's easier to control the product quality.
⑵ Wide applicability, low risk of cross-linking reaction, no interaction, high stability. In view of the characteristics of cellulose, vegetable capsules are not likely to react with amino acid. (Which will results in lengthening capsules disintegration or low dissolution.) Release rate is relatively stable, individual differences are small.
⑶ Low storage requirements. Unlikely to become brittle in low-moisture environment (35%RH, brittleness rate≤2.1%), good stability in high temperature (At 80℃, the shell change<1%). Gelatin capsules are likely to harden or dehydrate at high temperature and low humidity. They have higher requirements for the storage environment, humidity and packaging materials. Moreover the storage environment has more remarkable effects on quality of gelatin capsules.
⑷ Good coating properties. Particularly suitable for preparation of controlled release coating capsules. As the cellulose and most polymer has good compatibility, the coating materials are likely to stick vegetable capsules and the uniformity is good.
⑸ Complete varieties and specifications. Suitable for mechanical processing and the current models of capsule filling machines. Need not to replace the machine parts.
